New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Washington to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump and there is a huge opportunity for a big trade deal between the two nations very soon, the U.S. President said in a tweet. Otherwise, the remarks follow on talks between the two, aimed at bolstering economic relations and resolving core issues of trade.
During the event, Trump had multiple meetings with Modi to talk to the Indian media and network, as well as meetings with reporters at the White House. He has delighted Modi in the meet by calling him a “good friend” and “great leader”. The mutual friendship between both leaders would greatly give a boost to both countries to reach closer to a mutually profitable trade agreement, he added. Trump said both sides were working toward a final agreement and that talks were going well.
On economic relations between the two countries, Trump said, “It’s good to have a prime minister whose favorite I am.” He also pointed out the wide consensus between the two governments and said he believed the two countries would eventually reach a deal. Trump said that India is very important to the United States when it comes to the world stage and doing business together. The United States and India are talking about trade. Want to make a deal that helps both countries.
They want to make it easier for people to buy and sell things between the two countries. They have been talking about things like tariffs and customs to make trade better between the United States and India. The talks between the United States and India have been going well over the past few weeks. Both the United States and India think the talks are going in a direction and that they are making progress.
The two countries are also, Trump said, having “quite different trade relations” than they were in the past. He has opined that the economic partnership between the two countries now benefits the USA more and both can benefit from a new India-USA pact. The U.S. president, who referred to previous concerns about tariffs, sounded positive about the future and highlighted the possibility of a deal.
Meanwhile, India’s officials have also indicated that negotiations are ongoing to reach a finalization. A substantial part of the commerce and Industry minister Sy Mamidda Piyush Goyal’s assertion that there was a deal with India has proved to be correct. A major part of the deal with India has now been arranged, and only a few more issues remain to be addressed, says commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal. Discussions were being held about making adjustments, but were not about major concerns,” he said.
Experts say a successful trade deal would help boost economic ties between the world’s largest and fifth-largest economies. It could help open up new business opportunities, boost exports, attract foreign investment and even help New Delhi’s strategic relationship with Washington. The pact is also seen as a key to the economic relations between the two countries in the future.
Both sides seem keen, if negotiations are ongoing, to come to an end. An interest in reaching an agreement in the near future has grown as a result of playing off Modi’s friendship, coupled with Trump’s comfort with the negotiations, and his latest message has stirred the cauldron even more. Some parts of the issues have yet to be sorted out, but officials said a final deal will be achieved soon.
