Head constable killed in road accident in Villupuram district

A 40-year-old head constable was killed in a road accident at Kanjanur near Villupuram on Sunday (July 5, 2026) night.

The police said Panchamoorthy, attached with the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Gingee, was riding his motorcycle to Villupuram when a lorry rammed his vehicle at Kanjanur. The accident occurred at around 7.30 p.m.

He died en route to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital. The Kanjanur police have registered a case, and further investigation is under way.
