Sometimes, it’s the smallest details that make the biggest impact—like the right hair accessory to finish off your look. Designer Priyanka Sanghi, is turning heads with her fresh take on styling hair accessories in India.
Her hair accessories brand Hair Drama Co. is India’s first to create and sell 3D printed hair accessories. In an exclusive interaction with us, Priyanka spills the secrets on why hair accessories are much more than simple add-ons. They’re confidence boosters, style changers, and little bursts of personality that can completely transform how you feel and look. If you’ve ever underestimated the power of a clip or a band, this conversation might just change your mind.1. How have hair accessories evolved in recent years, and what do you think is driving those changes?Hair accessories have moved far beyond the utilitarian clips and scrunchies we grew up with. In the last few years, they've become fashion statements, almost like wearable art. The shift is driven by a blend of nostalgia, the rise of self-styling content on social media, and a growing focus on personal branding. People want their accessories to say something about who they are.

2. Could you share some insights into the different types of hair accessories that are trending right now?Absolutely! Right now, it’s all about elevated basics and statement pieces with personality. Think chunky headbands, oversized bows, claw clips with unique silhouettes, and embellished hair tassels. We’re also seeing charms taking center stage, whether it’s dangling from a headband, clipped onto a bow, or worked into a scrunchie, charms are a playful way to show off personality. 3. What role do materials and craftsmanship play in making a hair accessory stand out in today’s market? It’s everything. The modern customer is hyper-aware, they can spot mass production from a mile away. Luxe textures like velvet, silk, organza, or tweed combined with traditional craftsmanship not only elevate the product but create an emotional connection. The story behind how it’s made is just as important as how it looks.

4. How do global fashion trends influence the designs and styles of contemporary hair accessories? We don’t just follow global fashion trends, we translate them into hair fashion.
For example, when pearls started dominating global runways and red carpets, we designed a one-of-a-kind hair accessory with pearl hangings — and it went viral across social media. Trends like coquette-core, romantic textures, and quiet luxury all make their way into our collections , but always through the Hair Drama lens. We're constantly interpreting what's happening globally and reimagining it into something wearable, striking, and fun.

How important is it for hair accessories to balance functionality with aesthetic appeal? It’s not a balance , it’s a philosophy for us. We call it functionable fashion. Even our most embellished headbands are created with comfort-first construction. Because let’s be honest , what’s the point of something pretty if you can’t wear it all day?7. Could you talk about how hair accessories have become a form of self-expression for modern women?Hair is deeply personal and hair accessories are like punctuation marks in a personal style statement.
Today’s woman doesn’t want to blend in, she wants to express who she is, what mood she’s in, or what vibe she’s feeling that day. Our charms have become a big part of that from stars and hearts to initials and pearls, each piece lets you tell a different story. It’s self-expression, elevated.

In your opinion, what is the future direction for hair accessory trends, are there any emerging styles or technologies you find exciting? The future is all about hybrid, personal, and collectible fashion. Personalization will become huge - whether it's initials, astrology symbols, or even pieces that reflect moods.
