Heavy rain worsens road conditions in Nashik city

NASHIK: A spate of heavy rain in Nashik city has worsened road conditions, with potholes re-emerging on several roads, particularly in the Ambad industrial estate of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) within the city limits, posing risks for motorists.Residents have voiced concerns regarding the Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMC) negligence in implementing permanent tar repairs on the roads.Between 6.30pm on Monday and 8.30am on Tuesday, the city received 45.5mm of rainfall, leading to waterlogging in multiple areas.In response to the deteriorating road conditions, NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri visited the Ambad industrial estate to inspect the roads.

During her visit, Khatri assessed various major and internal roads in the Ambad MIDC area and directed public works department officials to undertake immediate repairs.Khatri also convened a meeting with officials of the Ambad Industries and Manufacturers' Association (Aima). "The major as well as internal roads across all sectors in the Ambad industrial estate are in a pathetic condition. This is causing major inconvenience to the industrialists and workers. Moreover, many streetlights are also defunct, which has made the place prone to theft," said Lalit Boob, the president of Aima.During the meeting, Boob urged Khatri to widen existing roads and allocate financial provisions in the NMC budget annually for infrastructure upgradation
