Torrential rains battered Kasaragod on Friday (May 30), causing extensive damage across multiple areas. Roads were washed away, houses flooded, and landslides disrupted traffic and posed a serious threat to residents.

In Manjeswaram, the Mukuli road collapsed, sweeping away a parked car and bike. Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident. Waterlogging affected vast stretches, with Pavoor, Gerukatte, Machampady, and Posod among the worst hit. Several homes and mosques were inundated, prompting the fire and rescue services to evacuate families from Eriyal, where 15 houses were flooded.

A major landslide was reported on the State Highway at Angadimogar early Friday morning, partially disrupting vehicular traffic. In Mongral and Uppala, several homes were submerged, and authorities began relocating residents to safer locations.

In Cherkala, rising water from a flooded paddy field entered four houses. Another landslide occurred on Chandragiri Road in Kanhangad, while at Veenacheri, a partially constructed two-storey apartment collapsed onto a house below. The impact caused significant structural damage to the bedroom, with walls, windows, pipelines, and concrete structures caving in.

The Kasaragod–Kanhangad State Highway also witnessed a landslide near the Chandragiri bridge, leading to traffic being diverted. Soil erosion was reported at a hill excavation site, endangering a nearby residence.

In Uduma, a tree fell on the railway track between Uduma and Kottikulam, halting train services to Mangaluru. Authorities later confirmed that services had resumed after the obstruction was cleared.
