Heavy rainfall affected life in parts of Vijayapura and Belagavi districts on Friday.

As many as six bridge-cum-barrages came under the waters of rivers or streams in Vijayapura district.

Traffic over the bridge at Talikot over the Doni was stopped for a few hours. Vehicles were diverted to a route via Mookihal and Minajagi.

Officials said that 19 houses have been damaged in heavy rain in Vijayapura district.

There were no reports of any casualties.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Rishi Anand visited flood-hit villages and asked officials to be ready to face emergencies.

The inflow into the Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir on the Krishna at Almatti was increased to 45,455 cusecs and outflow to 42,500 cusecs.

The dam has 120 tmcft of water or 98% of its full capacity.

Inflow into the Hippargi barrage was 31,800 cusecs and outflow 26,161 cusecs.

The Basava Sagar dam in Narayanpur recorded an inflow of 30,000 cusecs and an outflow of 26,800 cusecs. The dam has 33.17 tmcft or 99% of its full capacity.

Heavy rain in Saundatti, Ugargol and surrounding areas led to flooding of roads and a traffic jam in Saundatti on Friday. Officials cleared the road for traffic by evening.

The discharge from Maharashtra stood at 29,872 cusecs, 1,806 cusecs less than on Thursday.
