Hemavathi dam division issues flood warning as inflow to reservoir increase

Officials of Hemavathi Dam Division of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam have issued a flood warning in the dam’s downstream, as inflow to the reservoir at Goruru in Hassan is on the rise.

“The water level in the reservoir is rising to its full storage level. There is a likelihood of releasing surplus water varying from 30,000 to 50,000 cusecs, and it may increase at any moment,” a press release issued on Thursday said.

The executive engineer of the division appealed to the people living on the banks of the river Hemavathi to move to safer places and take precautionary measures to avoid loss of lives and properties.
