Highest successful run chase in Test cricket: Ollie Pope led-England are eyeing a record run chase in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India in London’s Kennington Oval. India set the home team a stiff target of 374 and if England chase this down, this will be their third highest succesful run chase in Test cricket.

London’s Kinngton Oval has historically been a tricky venue for fourth-innings run chases, with a 200+ target being chased only six times at this venue. The highest successful run chase at the Oval is by England who chased 263 against Australia in 1902.

Australia holds the record of highest target chased in England’s soil when it overhauled a target of 404 with seven wickets remaining in 1948. England’s highest successful chase is 378. Incidentally, England two highest successful run chase in their Test cricket history have both came in against India. England chase down 378 during the 2021-22 tour while their 371 chase at Headingley was the first Test of this series.
