This achievement marked his second consecutive hundred in the tournament, following his unbeaten 164 against Bangladesh earlier in the week.In the match against Bangladesh, which was played on Tuesday, Van Schalkwyk's innings was cut short due to bad light with 32 balls remaining. This prevented him from potentially becoming the first U19 player to score a double-century in a 50-over match.

However, Van Schalkwyk seized his opportunity in the Zimbabwe match, reaching the historic milestone of 200 runs from 145 balls with a boundary. His final score of 215 came in the 47th over of the innings, helping South Africa set a formidable target of 386 runs for Zimbabwe.The innings not only broke the overall U19 record but also surpassed the previous highest score by a South Africa U19 batter, which was held by Jacques Rudolph from the 2000 U19 World Cup.
