Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge announced that the State government will allocate ₹1 crore each for the development of the native villages of Bharat Ratna awardees and Jnanpith laureates who have made immense contributions to the Kannada language and culture.
Speaking to presspersons in Kalaburagi city on Saturday Mr. Kharge said the decision reflects the State government’s commitment to honour those who enriched Kannada literature and strengthened the State’s cultural identity. “The RDPR department will take up developmental works in the birthplaces/ native of these great personalities who worked tirelessly for Kannada,” the Minister added.
Industrial and Agricultural boost planned for Kalaburagi
To provide ready infrastructure for entrepreneurs to set up their industries, the government has established a ‘Plug & Play Centre’ at a cost of ₹16.80 crore under the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES) at Nandur–Kesaratagi industrial area (Phase-II) on the outskirts of Kalaburagi city.,
Similarly in Phase-III of the Nandur–Kesaratagi industrial area, the government would be developing an Electronic Manufacturing Industries on 36.89 acres land, Chemical and Gas Industries on 48.80 acres, a Plug & Play building in 6.50 acres land, a Food Park would come up on 5.51 acres, and a Sustainable Electronic Park in 5.24 acres area.
Similarly, at Kapnoor Industrial Area (Phase-III), an “Auto & General Engineering Cluster” is coming up on 20 acres to house around 400 small and micro industrial units related to automobile repair and engineering trades under one roof, Mr. Kharge explained.
Swift relief, crop compensation
Referring to the recent floods and crop losses, Mr. Kharge detailed that according to the survey standing Kharif crops spread over 3,24,777 ha in Kalaburagi district have been damaged. So far, 4,17,596 farmers have registered their details in the official portals, of which 4,15,996 applications have been verified and approved; and around 1,600 entries are still pending.
The Minister said that about 94% of document verification of farmers’ crop loss has been completed and assured that all affected farmers would receive the compensation for the crop loss within two weeks.
“The first instalment of crop loss compensation as per NDRF and SDRF norms,will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts by next week” Mr. Kharge assured.(eom)
He said that the government stands firmly with the farmers who have suffered due to floods and will ensure timely relief and rehabilitation.
