New Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou, who arrived at the club following the sacking of former coach Nuno Espirito Santo, looks to put an end to the club’s 35-year trophy drought.
The Australian, who helmed Tottenham to their first title in 17 years, will look to help the once-fabled Nottingham-based club to glory.
Espirito Santo, who has done a phenomenal job at the club as he led them to a 7th place finish in the previous season of the Premier League, was given the sack on Tuesday after the Portuguese coach clashed with ambitious Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.
“I love winning things. That’s what I’ve done," Postecoglou said.
“I get a sense that the club wants more and that’s certainly what I want, so I think it’s a really exciting time," the Aussie continued.
“I’m honoured and I’m humbled, but more importantly I’m determined to make sure this football club takes its rightful place," he added.

The Greek billionaire emphasized Postecoglou’s proven success in securing trophies at clubs such as Tottenham, Celtic, Yokohama Marinos, and as the Australia national team coach, as the key reason for his appointment at the City Ground.
Two-time European Cup winners Forest have returned to continental competition in the Europa League for the first time in 30 years, thanks to their seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.
Postecoglou led Tottenham to Europa League victory last season, ending a 17-year wait for a trophy. However, he was dismissed just days later following a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th.
At 60 years old, Postecoglou’s bold attacking approach has been criticised as naive, contrasting sharply with the cautious style of Nuno. Nevertheless, he defended his tactics and expressed confidence in continuing Forest’s upward trajectory.
After a 23-year absence from the English top flight, Forest returned to the Premier League in 2022. They struggled against relegation for the next two years before exceeding all expectations last season.
“It’s no secret I like my teams to attack, I love my teams to score goals," added Postecoglou.
“That is sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my team to play that way is because I love winning things and that is what I want to do here.
“When you look at what the club has achieved in recent times, it’s an outstanding feat to be where we are right now.
“Other clubs that have won promotion have struggled to stay in the league, but in a short space of time we’re back in Europe and competing for honours, which is a great credit to everyone involved."
Postecoglou will take on title aspirants, Arsenal, in the Premier League on Saturday in his first outing as the Forest boss.
