House burglaries cracked in Kalaburagi; ornaments worth ₹13.41 lakh recovered

The Kalaburagi city police have arrested a man involved in house burglary cases and recovered valuables worth ₹13.41 lakh on Thursday.

Addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Thursday the Police Commissioner Sharanappa. S. Dhage said he had stolen around 100 g of gold ornaments valued at ₹13 lakh, 200 g of silver worth ₹16,000, and a motorcycle used in the crime worth ₹25,000. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Arif, an Arabic tutor from Bilalabad Colony, allegedly broke into three houses under the Gulbarga University police station limits and made away gold and silver ornaments.

Mr. Dhage said that the accused was a first time offender; during the interrogation, the accused claimed that he was forced to commit burglary to address his financial burden. The police officer said that the modus operandi of Mohammad Arif was to conduct reconnaissance during day time and target the locked residences located in isolated places and commit burglary during wee hours.
