 Akshay Kumar’s comedy flick crosses Rs.60 crore mark; beats ‘Thug Life’ with huge margin

Akshay Kumar is back in the comedy genre with his highly anticipated movie ‘Housefull 5.’ Released this Friday, the movie minted Rs 24 crore on its day one, according to a Sacnilk report, and with this, it has beaten its own previous installment ‘Houseful 4’ in the opening haul.Further, released with two endings, the movie has made it to the theatres as Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B simultaneously. According to the latest numbers, the slapstick comedy has maintained a strong grip on the opening weekend. As we speak, the movie has already crossed the Rs. 60 crore mark, and is expected to earn more in the coming hours.

‘Housefull 5’ box office update

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, as aforementioned, the movie opened with Rs. 24 crore.

On Saturday, this number saw a rise of 29.1% and it minted Rs. 31 crore. Today, on day 3, it's the first Sunday, according to the numbers updated till 2 pm, the movie has added another Rs 8.14 crore to its account. With this, ‘Housefull 5’ day 3 box office live collection stands at Rs. 63.14 cr.

‘Housefull 5’ outperformed ‘Housefull 4’ on the opening day haul

In addition to the comedy, the ‘Housefull’ franchise has always been appreciated for its record-breaking box office numbers, and the latest installment has followed the legacy.

While it minted Rs. 24 cr on its first day, its previous installment, the 2019-released ‘Housefull 4,’ earned ₹19.08 crore on its first day.Not just this, Akshay Kumar has outshone his January release ‘Sky Force,’ which made a business of ₹11.50 crore at the box office on day one.

‘Housefull 5’ vs ‘Thug Life’

Released a day before ‘Housefull 5,’ the Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Thug Life’ failed to reign at the box office. In three days, according to the latest numbers, ‘Housefull 5’ is standing at Rs. 63.14 crores, while ‘Thug Life’ minted Rs. 31.26 crores. It opened with Rs. 15.5 cr and minted Rs. 7.15 cr and Rs. 7.14 cr respectively on Friday and Saturday. So far on Saturday, it has been able to collect Rs. 1.47 cr.
