India has successfully conducted the maiden test of an indigenous
integrated air defence weapon system
(
IADWS
), featuring a mix of missiles of varying ranges and a laser-based anti-drone weapon to counter aerial threats.
Tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (
DRDO
) off the coast of Odisha on August 23, the system operates through a centralised command and control centre. This setup ensures seamless coordination between radars, communication networks, missile batteries, and directed-energy weapons — maximising both response time and accuracy in combat scenarios.
