The Taj Mahal, a timeless emblem of love and architectural brilliance, continues to draw lakhs of visitors from across the world every year. While the marble monument is globally renowned for its beauty, a new viral video has sparked curiosity about how much revenue the Taj Mahal actually generates each day.

The discussion began after an Instagram user named Prince Salman (@dl06salmanvlogs), known for sharing facts about historical monuments, posted a video breaking down what he claims to be the Taj Mahal’s daily and annual income. The video, which has garnered over 72 lakh views, surprised many and stirred a heated discussion online.

In his video, Salman estimated that nearly 20,000 people visit the Taj Mahal every day, including about 2,000 foreign tourists. He then explained the “math" behind the monument’s earnings. According to him, the entry ticket for Indian visitors costs Rs 50, while those who wish to visit the inner tomb must pay an additional Rs 200. Based on this, Salman calculated:

  • Rs 10 lakh from regular Indian visitors (20,000 × Rs 50)
  • Rs 20 lakh more if half of them pay to enter the tomb (10,000 × Rs 200)

That brings the estimated total from domestic visitors to Rs 30 lakh per day.

For foreign tourists, each ticket costs Rs 1,350, which includes tomb access. Salman calculated that 2,000 foreigners × Rs 1,350 = Rs 27 lakh. Combined with domestic revenue, the Taj Mahal’s total daily earnings, he claimed, reach Rs 57 lakh.

Extending that over a month, the figure comes to Rs 17.1 crore, and even after accounting for Fridays, when the monument remains closed, Salman estimated the monthly revenue to exceed Rs 14 crore.

While these numbers are not official, they offer an interesting perspective on how much this UNESCO World Heritage Site could potentially earn. According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Taj Mahal receives 70-80 lakh visitors annually, making it one of the most visited monuments in the world.

However, the viral post has also sparked sharp reactions online. Some viewers expressed awe at the potential revenue figures, while others veered into heated debates in the comment section, a familiar turn in social media discussions around heritage sites.
