Those annoying yellowed covers might not bother you at first, until they do. Maybe it’s the weird grime or the stale color. It’s not really “dirty,” but it’s definitely not cute anymore. Since these cases face sun, dust, your jeans pocket, and leftover snack fingers… yeah, they stain fast. But don’t throw it out yet. You can clean it, and actually get it looking fresh again. We’ve got three super easy methods you can try at home. You only need basic stuff like soap, baking soda, or rubbing alcohol.
Soap
This one’s your first line of defense. Take a bowl of warm water, add a few drops of dish soap, and stir. Dip a clean toothbrush in it and scrub the phone case, including the corners and the part around the camera hole.
Once you’re done scrubbing, rinse it under clean water until no soap remains. Then dry it off with a towel and let it air out for an hour. This works great for basic grime or new yellowing. If you clean it this way weekly, you might never need the stronger stuff.
Alcohol
If it has been a few weeks, alcohol might be your saviour. Dab a little on a microfiber cloth and test a small hidden area first. If it looks fine, go ahead and gently rub the stained parts in circular motions.
Focus on the yellow bits, especially near the edges. After that, wipe it clean with another cloth. Leave it to dry for at least an hour. This also kills bacteria.
Baking Soda
If it still doesn’t work, then it is time for baking soda. Lay the case down flat, and sprinkle baking soda generously over it. Now scrub it using a damp toothbrush. The gritty texture helps break down deep-set discoloration. Rinse it well with warm water to wash off all the powder. If there’s still some residue, do a quick follow-up wash with soap and water. Dry it with a towel and air-dry it for an hour. This method’s great for stains that laughed in the face of soap and alcohol.
