Google has added a feature to its Find Hub app that lets travellers share the location of a lost bag directly with their airline. The "share item location" tool generates a secure, time-limited link tied to a Find Hub-compatible tracker tag.
This means airlines can see a bag's real-time location without users having to hand over broader access to their devices or accounts. Here's what you need to know about how it works, which airlines support it, and what privacy protections are built in.
What you need to track luggage using Google Find Hub
To use the feature, you need:
- An Android device with the Find Hub app installed
- A Find Hub-compatible tracker tag or network accessory attached to your luggage
- A participating airline (see list below)
Compatible Samsonite suitcases now come with Find Hub technology built in and can be paired with the network straight out of the box.
How to share your bag's location with an airline
If your luggage goes missing, follow these steps in the Find Hub app:
| Step | Action |
| 1. Select your item | Open Find Hub and tap on the lost bag |
| 2. Generate a link | Tap "share item location" to create a unique, secure URL |
| 3. Share with your airline | Copy the link and paste it into the airline's app or website |
| 4. Stop sharing | Tap to revoke access at any time, or wait for the link to expire automatically |
Sharing is also disabled automatically once your phone detects that the item has returned to you.
Which airlines accept Find Hub locations
Google has partnered with more than 10 major global carriers. The feature is integrated into WorldTracer and NetTracer, the two leading industry baggage-tracing systems, used by hundreds of airlines at thousands of airports worldwide.

Tracking lost luggage with Google Find Hub: Privacy and security
Google says the feature was designed with privacy as a priority. Key protections include the following:
- Encryption: Device location data is encrypted
- User control: You decide who gets the link and can revoke access instantly
- Auto-expiry: Links expire automatically after seven days
- Auto-disable: Sharing turns off as soon as your phone detects your bag is back with you
