Huawei Mate 70 Air debuts with 6.6mm slim form factor: Processor, camera and other details to know

Huawei has unveiled its slim phone in China. Called the Huawei Mate 70 Air, the smartphone comes with a 6.6mm slim form factor. Huawei Mate 70 Air is powered by Kirin processor and is offered in three colour variants – Obsidian Black, Feathered White, and Gold and Silver Brocade.

As mentioned above, Huawei Mate 70 Air is available in China and is up for pre-order through Huawei’s official online store. Buyers can choose from three colours — Obsidian Black, Feathered White, and a Gold and Silver Brocade finish (translated from Chinese). The smartphone comes with a starting price of CNY 4,199 (around Rs 52,000) for the base model that includes 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The other variants — 12GB+512GB and 16GB+256GB — are both priced at CNY 4,699 (roughly Rs 58,000), while the top model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage costs CNY 5,199 (about Rs 65,000).

Huawei’s Mate 70 Air features a 7-inch Full-HD+ (1,320×2,760 pixels) AMOLED screen. The display offers a 300Hz touch sampling rate, 2,160Hz PWM dimming, and support for 1.07 billion colours.

The smartphone runs on HarmonyOS 5.1 and is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9020 series processors — the 16GB RAM variant comes with a Kirin 9020A chip, while the 12GB RAM model uses the Kirin 9020B SoC. Both options offer up to 512GB of internal storage.Huawei Mate 70 Air features a quad rear setup that includes a 50MP (f/1.8) main sensor, a 12MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens, an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor, and a 1.5MP multi-spectral colour sensor. The main and telephoto lenses come with optical image stabilisation. On the front, there’s a 10.7MP (f/2.2) selfie camera capable of recording up to 4K videos. The camera also supports AI dynamic photos, HDR, slow motion, time-lapse, smile capture, and voice-activated shooting.The phone houses a 6,500mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging but lacks wireless charging support. Huawei claims an IP68 + IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. The device measures 165×81.5×6.6mm and weighs around 208g.
