Hubballi horror: Mother burns son’s limbs with hot iron for being ‘naughty’; woman detained

NEW DELHI: A woman has been detained here for allegedly burning her son’s hands, legs, and neck using a hot iron rod as punishment for being "naughty", police said on Tuesday.The authorities have detained Anusha Hulimara and commenced an investigation into the matter.The occurrence took place at Tippu Nagar, fourth Cross, in Old Hubballi town on Monday.Police sources indicate that the accused became enraged by her child's conduct and administered the severe punishment.Hulimara allegedly caused serious burn injuries to the child's extremities and neck using a heated metal rod.Neighbours were alerted by the child's screams and stepped in to save the boy.The local residents, appalled by the cruel treatment, promptly contacted the police.Old Town Hubballi police reached the location, took the woman into custody and began their investigation.Officials from the Child Welfare Department have been requested to step in and extend necessary assistance and support to the affected child.A concerning video shows the child displaying severe burn marks on his foot, hands and face whilst telling people that his mother branded him.
