Telangana government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each to families of the five people who died of electrocution when a trailer vehicle in the Sri Krishan Shobha Yatra came into contact with an overhead electric wire in Ramanthapur on Sunday (August 17, 2025).
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who visited Gandhi Hospital’s mortuary in Hyderabad where postmortem is being conducted on Monday morning, also announced that medical expenses for treatment of the injured will be borne by the government.
Directions were issued to conduct an investigation under the supervision of the district collector. Action will be taken based on the report, he said. Officials were asked to hold a special drive on cable wires and current wires in Greater Hyderabad area.
