Telangana Government rolled out initiatives to strengthen film and television ecosystem.

The Telangana Government has approved three initiatives to strengthen the State’s film and television ecosystem. It issued a Governor Order permitting Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) to sponsor the upcoming Hyderabad International Short Film Festival, to be held from December 19 to 21, 2025, in collaboration with the Dadasaheb Phalke School of Film Studies. A budget of ₹30 lakh has been sanctioned from the Corporation’s existing funds for the event.

The Government also permitted the Young Filmmakers Awards Function to be organised with a budget of ₹30 lakh — to be met from the Corporation’s funds. A panel was reconstituted including Singer Rahul Sipligunj, Director Balagam Venu, Director Harish Shankar, Cinematographer P.G. Vinda.

Besides, a committee was constituted to frame modalities, regulations and logo design for the proposed Telangana Television Awards 2024.

Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that these steps reflect the Government’s commitment to encourage creative excellence and provide platforms for emerging talent in the film and television sectors.

It earlier organised a few programmes and announced initiatives in this direction. The inaugural edition of Gaddar Telangana Film Awards was held by the Government on June 14, 2025. It also announced ‘Film in Telangana’ portal to strengthen film and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism sectors in the State.
