HYDERABAD: A 50-year-old driver who sustained grievous injuries while trying to prevent his daughter from ending her life by jumping in front of an oncoming train last week, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.
Mohammed Ali, a resident of Patigadda, was pronounced dead at 10.52 am on Thursday. He had been admitted on June 7 at 1.50 pm after the dramatic accident near Sanjivaiah Park railway station, where eyewitnesses said his daughter, Aliya Begum, 30, died by suicide by jumping in front of a train allegedly due to marital discord. According to railway police, Mohammed rushed onto the tracks to pull Aliya away but was struck by the locomotive. Aliya died on the spot and Mohammed was transported to Gandhi Hospital. Secunderabad railway police have registered a case under section 194 of BNSS.
