After killing Agarwal, the men reportedly stole gold and cash from the flat, stripped her of ornaments, bathed, changed clothes, and fled on a scooter, leaving behind blood-stained garments. CCTV footage helped trace their movements through Moosapet, IDL Lake Road, and Kaithlapur. Five special police teams were deployed to track the suspects, one of which traced them to Ranchi, their hometown.
