The victims of cyber crimes in Hyderabad received refunds totalling over ₹1.41 crore this year, an 87% jump from last year, while the city’s Zonal Cyber Cells (ZCCs) also disposed of 8,209 petitions compared to 4,970 in 2024. A 680% surge was recorded in incident report uploads to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), signalling sharper documentation and follow-up.

These figures came to light during a review meeting held on Friday by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand to assess the performance of all seven ZCCs over the past two months. The evaluation focused on petition disposal, refund mechanisms, case detections, awareness campaigns, inter-state coordination through the Samanvaya Portal, and CCTNS uploads.

The commissioner said that the progress reflected a stronger citizen response as well as improved internal coordination. He interacted directly with Deputy Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Police Constables to understand the practical difficulties on the ground, promising to address operational gaps and ensure staff had their basic requirements met.

Acknowledging the rising public awareness of ZCCs, the commissioner urged officers to step up coordination with banks, telecom providers and judicial agencies to speed up the resolution of fraud cases. He stressed that continued training and awareness campaigns would remain the backbone of preventing cybercrimes in the city.

The review was attended by Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) P. Viswa Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crimes) Dara Kavitha, ACP and SHO R.G. Siva Maruthi, ACP Jaipal Reddy, as well as inspectors and sub-inspectors from all seven ZCCs.
