HYDERABAD

The Telangana government has formally replaced the State identification code ‘TS’ with ‘TG’, prompting Hyderabad City Police to begin refurbishing its fleet with new ‘Telangana Police’ stickers.

Following instructions from Director General and Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, a total of 188 government vehicles were being updated under the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Headquarters. The process involves removing ‘TS’ stickers, applying fresh ‘TG’ ones, and carrying out additional maintenance.

The works — denting, painting, bumper and panel repairs, and machine polishing — are estimated to cost about ₹1.6 crore.

On Sunday, CAR officials completed the stickering and refurbishing of 134 patrol vehicles, which were recommissioned for duty. These vehicles are expected to play a crucial role in crime prevention, law and order enforcement, and emergency response across Hyderabad.

Other police vehicles, including those of Traffic ACPs, Inspectors, Pilots, and Interceptors, will undergo the same process in the coming days. Officials also issued instructions to drivers to keep vehicles clean and in proper condition.

The CAR Headquarters oversaw the exercise and reaffirmed that the updated fleet will help strengthen policing in the city.
