As Cyclone Montha moves closer to the Andhra Pradesh coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas on Tuesday (October 28, 2025).
Landfall near Kakinada
According to the IMD, Cyclone Montha is likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning. It is expected to make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, as a severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speeds of 90 to 100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph.

Weather forecast for Hyderabad
In an impact-based forecast issued on Tuesday morning, the IMD’s Hyderabad centre stated that the city would experience a generally cloudy sky with intermittent rain or thundershowers. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers at times with intense spells accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in the city. Mist or hazy conditions are also expected during morning and night hours,” as per the bulletin.
IMD has warned of possible waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic congestion due to rainfall. Authorities have been advised to make necessary arrangements to clear stagnant water and ensure smooth vehicular movement
