Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency has successfully reclaimed valuable government land and park sites that had been under illegal occupation for decades within the Manikonda Municipality limits.

The operation, carried out on Saturday, resulted in reclamation of properties estimated to be worth around ₹300 crore. This includes one acre of government land and park sites adding up to over 7,650 square yards.

In Panchvati Colony, near Western Plaza, a one-acre plot of government land had been encroached upon by individuals claiming ancestral ownership without any valid documentation. Following a public grievance lodged through HYDRAA’s Prajavani platform by residents of Western Plaza, Commissioner, HYDRAA A.V. Ranganath directed the agency to take immediate action. After a joint verification with revenue and municipal officials, the land was confirmed as government property. HYDRAA subsequently removed the encroachments, erected fencing around the site, and installed boards marking it as government land.

HYDRAA has also protected a 1,600-square-yard park site at Venkateswara Colony in Manikonda. The land, originally earmarked for public amenities in the 1992 layout approval, had been partially encroached upon through unauthorised plots. Acting on a complaint from local residents HYDRAA investigated into the matter and found that the area had been officially gifted to the Gram Panchayat in 1996 for park and public use. However, after Manikonda became a municipality, certain permissions were irregularly issued in 2019. HYDRA reclaimed the entire parcel, installed fencing and displayed boards identifying it as park land.

Similarly, a 6,150-square-yard park site in Tirumala Hills within the same municipality has also been retrieved from encroachers. Temporary sheds and compound walls erected on the site were removed, and the land was fenced and designated as a park area by HYDRAA.
