The shooting happened during a school mass, where two students were killed and 17 others were left injured. Adam’s wife, Caitlin Thielen, spoke out on social media, calling the incident a “senseless tragedy” and asking for change.

The shooting took place on Wednesday, August 28, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Students were attending a morning mass when a suspect opened fire inside the church.

Soon after news of the attack spread, Caitlin Thielen reshared a post about the incident on her Instagram Story. She added her own words, writing:“I can’t even imagine. Praying for Minneapolis and all affected by this senseless tragedy.

Praying for change for the better for Minnesota.”Her message quickly reached fans and followers, many of whom joined her in prayers for the victims and their families. The Thielens, who have long been connected to Minnesota, have spoken in the past about their faith and their hopes for the community. Caitlin posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing:“Everyone wish Adam a happy birthday today!!! Aging like fine wine I couldn’t be prouder of how far you’ve come and the hard work and deeper trust in God you’ve developed over the years Adam.. & I can’t wait to see what the future holds! You truly are a big inspiration.. on the field, but most importantly off Here’s to an amazing year, I know God will provide! I love you so much.”

Adam and Caitlin Thielen, who married in 2015, are raising their three children, Asher, Hudson and Cora, in Minnesota. Adam first joined the Vikings in 2013 as an undrafted player and went on to become one of the team’s most reliable receivers for nine seasons. After a year with the Carolina Panthers, he was traded back to the Vikings on Wednesday. But while his return was big news for football fans, it was the heartbreaking church shooting that weighed most heavily on the Thielens and their community.
