'I'd hit all of them': Rohit Sharma makes fearless claim; fans burst into laughter

Rohit Sharma, India’s ODI captain, has never been one to shy away from a challenge with the bat. Asked which bowler he would most like to hit for six, the 37-year-old responded with trademark confidence. “Honestly, everyone! I’d love to hit all of them. There’s no particular one. My mindset is always the same — I just want to hit, doesn’t matter who’s in front of me,” Rohit said at a recent event.

His remark however, elicited an unexpected reaction from the crowd as they burst out laughing. However, with a faint smile, Rohit clarified that he does not believe in having one particular bowler, but rather, wanted to score runs and hit hard against every single one of his opponents - a clear explanation to his fearless hitting over the years.The statement captured the attacking intent and confidence that has defined his batting across formats. Known for turning starts into big scores, Rohit’s approach remains clear even as his focus now rests solely on ODIs. Having retired from T20Is in 2024 after leading India to a World Cup title and stepping away from Tests in May 2025, he continues to be the backbone of India’s 50-over side. Over 273 ODIs, the opener has amassed 11,168 runs at an average of 48.76, including 32 centuries, cementing his place among India’s all-time greats in white-ball cricket.

His Test career, meanwhile, spanned 67 matches with 4,301 runs, and in T20Is he signed off with 4,231 runs and a record-equalling five centuries. Away from cricket, Rohit recently celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi at home with his parents and brother, offering fans a glimpse of his family traditions in Mumbai. The festival, close to his heart since childhood, came just months after his Test retirement, symbolising a period of personal reflection alongside professional transition.

Now 38, the star batter is expected to be in international action for India next in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia this October.
