‘I'm going to knock your teeth out’: Terrence Howard says his temper cost him Marvel role after clash with Joel Silver

Terrence Howard is aware that his temper didn’t do him any good. The Oscar-nominated actor revealed that he once threatened a big-time producer and believes his temper cost him his role in the franchise after just one film.

As Terrence Howard tells it, this happened not long after he threatened to “knock the teeth” out of producer Joel Silver.

In a candid conversation on the PBD Podcast, Terrence Howard recalled an alleged run-in with legendary producer Joel Silver at the 2007 Venice Film Festival while the duo promoted their movie, ‘The Brave One.’ Howard said this occurred after a reporter asked why his name wasn't getting the same credit treatment as Jodie Foster (who played the role of a vigilante).

As Howard pondered the reporter’s question, he addressed Silver."Joel Silver came and had a conversation with me, and he's like, 'The reason your name isn't above the titles is because you're not the star of this thing, it's Jodie. And if you get nominated for an Oscar, it's going to be for Supporting Actor, not Best Actor,'" Howard claimed. "And I was like, 'Thank you for telling me that, now I understand. But, you have to remember that I'm a man just like you, and if you ever talk to me in that way again, I'm going to knock your teeth out of your mouth.

'"

How did the incident cause him to lose his Marvel role?

Silver's producing partner on ‘The Brave One’ happened to be Susan Downey, the wife of Howard's Iron Man co-star. "Eight months later, I lose Iron Man," Howard said. "And I'm sure that all of those things played their part."A few months later, Howard lost his role as James "Rhodey" Rhodes in the Marvel franchise and was replaced by Don Cheadle in ‘Iron Man 2.’ Whatever may be the case, it is certain that Howard lost a big-time role.
