Shilo Sanders mocks brother Shedeur.
Shedeur Sanders’s NFL journey isn’t unfolding the way many predicted. Once touted as a potential first-round pick and backed publicly by his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders, the former Colorado quarterback slipped to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Now with the Cleveland Browns, he’s finally climbed to the backup quarterback role — but his first game as QB2 came and went without a single snap. That didn’t go unnoticed by his brother, Shilo Sanders, who couldn’t resist poking fun after the game.
After a long wait, Shedeur moves up to QB2 — but never leaves the bench
Shedeur Sanders started the season as the Cleveland Browns’ third-string quarterback, sitting behind Joe Flacco and rookie Dillon Gabriel. But after Flacco struggled, the Browns traded him to the Cincinnati Bengals and made Gabriel the starter.
That move bumped Shedeur up to backup for Week 6. Even with the promotion, Sanders didn’t see any action in the Browns’ 23-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gabriel played the whole game, throwing 52 passes and completing 29 for 221 yards, but couldn’t lead a touchdown drive.
With Shedeur watching from the bench, his older brother Shilo didn’t miss the chance to troll him about it.
Shilo Sanders jokes about his brother’s quiet NFL debut
Shilo Sanders, who played safety at Colorado with Shedeur, wasn’t selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a practice squad player but didn’t make the 53-man roster. Even so, Shilo has remained a vocal presence online — specially when it comes to his brother. After Shedeur officially dressed as the QB2 but didn’t play a snap, Shilo playfully called him out. As fans spoke to him in the bleachers, he said, “Shedeur, he did good today.
I rate his performance 10/10. You know, I was a sideline kind of guy too.
I liked his movement. I liked how he didn’t just stand in one spot, he was talking to teammates today.”
Browns’ offense still searching for answers as losses pile up
Sanders came into the league with big expectations after a standout college career at Jackson State and Colorado. But the NFL draft process didn’t align with the media hype. Cleveland took a chance on him in the fifth round, and even then, he faced a steep climb to crack the depth chart. Now the official backup to Gabriel, Sanders could be next in line if Cleveland’s offensive struggles continue. The Browns have dropped to 1-5 and remain one of the least productive offenses in the league. Also read: 'I gotta be better for this team': Josh Allen takes the blame after Buffalo Bills’ loss to Atlanta Falcons, says he wasn't 'good enough'With Miami and New England on deck before a Week 9 bye, head coach Kevin Stefanski may eventually need to consider a change if the current plan doesn’t spark a turnaround.
