'I was shocked when offered to play Ram Charan's mother in 'Peddi', says Swasika – 'I said no'

Actress Swasika, who has been steadily making her mark in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema, recently opened up about a rather unusual casting offer that came her way.Known for her impactful performances in Malayalam and Tamil films, the Kerala State Film Award winner revealed that she has since been receiving a stream of offers for similar roles.

But what surprised her the most was being approached to play none other than Telugu superstar Ram Charan’s mother in the upcoming big-budget pan-Indian film 'Peddi', directed by Buchi Babu Sana.

“I keep getting mother roles these days. What shocked me was the offer to play Ram Charan’s mother. It was for the big Telugu film 'Peddi', a massive-budget project. I was shocked and I said no,” Swasika shared in a chat with Global Malayalam.

Swasika turns down the role and here's why

While acknowledging the magnitude of the offer, Swasika explained why she turned it down. “I don’t know how it would have turned out if I had accepted, but right now, I don’t feel the need to play Ram Charan’s mother. If the need arises later, I’ll think about it,” she said.

In the same conversation, Swasika pointed out how similar offers are becoming common for actresses in the industry. Referring to Honey Rose’s recent role opposite Balakrishna in Veera Simha Reddy, she noted, “Yes, she has done such a role and also such offers are coming for me too. I don’t know how it will look if I play a mother character, but I decided at that situation that it’s not the right time to play the mother role of Ram Charan.

Meanwhile, Swasika was recently seen in the Telugu film 'Thammudu' and in Malayalam her recent work was in Jeethu Joseph's 'Nunakkuzhi'.
