Actress Daisy Shah recounted a distressing early career casting experience in Mumbai where a filmmaker from the South made her uncomfortable with unwanted physical contact. She immediately chose to leave the meeting, emphasizing the importance of not meeting individuals alone. Shah also addressed perceptions of her career being solely reliant on Salman Khan, asserting her own hard work is crucial.
Bollywood actress Daisy Shah recently spoke about a difficult moment from her early career, citing a bad casting experience. She said it happened in Mumbai when a filmmaker from the South came to cast her.
While speaking with The Free Press Journal, Daisy Shah shared that many girls had gone to meet him for work. She said there were around 6 to 7 girls waiting for their turn. Each girl was called inside alone to meet him. She started feeling uncomfortable even before her meeting ended.
Daisy Shah on what made her uneasy
The ‘Race 3’ actress shared what made her uneasy: “I was touched badly by one of the filmmakers in South. He had come to Mumbai for casting. We were 6-7 girls who went to meet him.
He was meeting everyone of us individually. But I didn't like it because he touched me and was holding my hand.”She also said she has never liked being touched. “I've always been apprehensive about people touching me. The reason why I don't get massage done is because I don't like being touched, even by a woman...by a man is a different story altogether.”
Daisy Shah choose to walk away
Daisy Shah said the moment made her feel very uncomfortable. She did not want to continue the meeting.
She said, “So that just put me off. I told him 'I will get back to you' but I never got back to him.” She decided to leave and not look back. She said this was her way of protecting herself. Daisy said the incident taught her something important. She shared, “The incident taught me that you are not supposed to meet anyone alone.”
Daisy Shah on her career getting a boost through Salman Khan
She also spoke about people saying her career depends on Salman Khan. She said people think someone is always helping a woman succeed. She added she does not feel bad about such talk anymore. She believes help is normal and part of life, but she also knows her own hard work matters. It’s a chain - you do good, you give out good, and then the chain continues. But people refuse to look at it. I don’t feel hurt about it anymore. I’m past it.
I have become acclimatised to that particular trait,” she added.On the work front, she was seen in ‘Bihu attack’.
