Shaquille O’Neal recently announced a celebrity boxing match with Charlie Mack, the former bodyguard of Will Smith. The news came weeks after TMZ spoke with Shaq’s son, Myles O’Neal, who expressed concern about the plan.
Myles told reporters, “I didn’t know about this. He’s old, he’s very old. I don’t know, I gotta look more into this, but hopefully I’ll be there.”
When asked if his father could still throw a punch, Myles smiled and said, “Yeah, I’ve seen him throw. He’s still pretty agile. I wouldn’t say he should be in a boxing match. I worry about him every day.”The 51-year-old Shaquille O’Neal has been open about his health. Years of heavy physical strain in the NBA, combined with long-term painkiller use, affected his liver and kidneys.
Over the past two years, he has worked on fitness and recovery. Yet fans and family alike wonder if taking part in a real fight is wise.
