The sites for construction of the Telangana government’s one lakh houses for people from Lower Income Groups (LIG) in Core Urban Region (CURE) limits would be decided in less than three days. Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday directed officials to identify the sites by June 28. So far, 20 sites were selected. The houses would come up in 10 floor buildings.

Besides, the officials were instructed to finalise plans, designs and models for each of the housing sites too within three days. The Minister said that a communication material with details on the application process, eligibility and guidelines would be released in the first week of July.

At a review meeting held in Hyderabad on Thursday, the Minister reviewed the plans for the LIG houses, and construction of new RDO and Tahasildar offices and Bhadrachalam temple development.

The State Cabinet has earlier approved the construction of one lakh LIG houses in the CURE limits - in 24 Assembly constituencies.  In the first phase, 500 houses would be built on each of the constituencies. Mr. Reddy said that government lands - in prime areas- of high worth would be selected for the purpose.
