 1 DRG jawan killed, 3 injured during anti-Maoist operation in Bastar

RAIPUR: One security personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was killed and three others injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in the forests of Bijapur district, Bastar division, Chhattisgarh, on Monday morning.The condition of one jawan was critical, but he succumbed during evacuation by the CRPF.According to a police official, the personnel were on anti-Naxal operations in the forests of Indravati National Park near Bhopalpattanam.While marching on foot, the jawans inadvertently stepped on a pressure-activated IED planted by Maoists in Ulloor valley.The IED was powerful enough to cause fatalities and injured four personnel. The condition of the other injured jawans is reported to be stable and out of danger.Police said reinforcements were sent to the location and added that further details will emerge soon.
