'If Granted The Honour...': Delhi CM Vows Earnest Efforts Towards Olympic Dream

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that India would do everything in its power to host the Olympic Games in all earnest if the nation were to be granted the honour of hosting the sporting spectacle, at the event to flag off the Olympic Day Run from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday.

Delhi CM Gupta, who was in attendance at the event alongside Indian Olympic Association Chief PT Usha and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, also vowed to develop sporting infrastructure moving forward towards the nation’s Olympic dream.

“I’m very happy that thousands of Delhi people participated in this organised Olympic run," Gupta said.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the country is constantly moving towards better sportspeople, better infrastructure and better facilities," she added.

“If the global community grants the honour of hosting the Olympic Games, India would organise the sports extravaganza with full dedication," the CM continued.

“Delhi is ready to host the 2036 Olympics. We want to get the privilege to host the Olympics," Gupta asserted.

“We will develop good infrastructure, and many sportspeople from every village from every state are getting good facilities from the central government," the 50-year-old added.

The Olympic Day Run was held under the IOC’s ‘Let’s Move’ campaign, promoting fitness and inclusivity. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents across the city. Additionally, Mandaviya led the Fit India Sunday on Cycle campaign, highlighting both fitness and environmental awareness. Last month, Fit India Sundays on Cycle saw around 750 participants, including teachers, athletes, Fit India influencers, and fitness enthusiasts.

CM Gupta expressed immense joy over the Olympic Day celebration and run in Delhi, with thousands of residents participating enthusiastically.
