A 22-year-old student of the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad died of heart attack on Saturday.
The deceased student has been identified as Asthitva Gupta, a native of Bihar. He was pursuing M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at the institute.
According to IIT sources, the student suddenly collapsed while participating in NCC selection trials.
Health officials at the clinic on campus managed to stabilise him and shifted him immediately to a private hospital for further treatment.
However, he suffered a second attack while at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and could not be resuscitated, the sources revealed.
The mortal remains of the student have been handed over to his parents.
