Almost ten days after a painful night at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, the American star has confirmed he will return to the international stage. The men’s singles favorite fell twice in his free skate and finished eighth overall, missing out on a medal many believed was his.

Now, instead of stepping back, Malinin is moving forward. He has announced his next shows, including the 2026 Art on Ice tour in Switzerland, and is preparing for the World Championships in Prague. His message is simple: this is not the end. After the Olympics ended, Malinin also performed at the Exhibition Gala on 21 February 2026. Skating to “Fear” by NF, he delivered an emotional routine that reflected the pressure he felt in Milan.

Soon after, details of his upcoming performances were confirmed through official information from Art on Ice.

Ilia Malinin looks ahead to Art on Ice 2026 and World Championships after Milan Olympics setback

One of Ilia Malinin’s next big appearances will be at Art on Ice in Switzerland. The 2026 tour runs from 26 February to 1 March in Zurich, then moves to Fribourg on 3-4 March and Davos on 6-7 March. Malinin will perform only in the Zurich shows this year. According to official Art on Ice information, this will be his fourth time skating in the popular live show that mixes figure skating with international singers.

This year, his setlist shows a fresh side. He will skate to “Rather Be” by Jess Glynne and “Pink Lemonade” by James Bay. The music choice suggests a more expressive and relaxed performance style. But even while preparing for shows, Malinin’s focus is still on competition. He has entered the 2026 World Championships in Prague. There, he will compete in the men’s singles event with both a short program and a free skate. Speaking about his plans, Malinin said, “My next goal is to have a redemption skate at the World Championships.

And after that, just, you know, the stress of the Olympic season will finally be over.

The Olympics, however, were not easy. Malinin had not lost a major event in more than two years. He led after the short program in Milan and looked ready for gold. Then came the free skate. He fell twice. He did not attempt his famous quad axel. Several other elements had errors. Those mistakes cost him heavy points and pushed him down to eighth place. The result shocked many in the skating world. Olympic legend Simone Biles even shared her support. She said, “I’ve sent him messages on Instagram as well, obviously, it’s all been private because I know what he’s going through, and I know most athletes might not be able to relate, and it’s really, really hard to watch.”Malinin later opened up about the mental pressure. On social media, he wrote, “Even your happiest memories can end up tainted by the noise.” He added that the criticism and fear kept building until he experienced what he called an “inevitable crash.” He admitted he was not ready for that level of Olympic pressure.Still, his story is far from over. With Art on Ice 2026 and the World Championships ahead, Ilia Malinin now skates with something new, not just talent, but hard lessons learned.
