BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju alleged denial of 27% OBC reservation in All India Quota admissions and 10% ST reservation in State Quota admissions at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and other National Law Universities across the country.

In a statement here, he said as per NALSAR’s own prospectus, OBC students are given only 18% seats in B.A. LL.B. and 20% in LL.M., instead of the mandated 27%. Even the State quota fails to provide the required 10% reservation for ST students. “This is nothing but a deliberate betrayal of the rights of Backward Classes,” Mr. Sravan said.

Similarly, NLU Delhi gives only 22%, Patiala has none, Bhopal 10%, Lucknow 0%, Patna 0%, Kochi 0%, Orissa 0%, Mumbai 0%, Shimla 0%, Prayagraj 0%, Raipur 11%, Visakhapatnam 9.84%, Jodhpur 20%, and others below the 27% mandate, he claimed.

“Students who clear the same CLAT exam face different reservation regimes in different universities, a mockery of equality before law,” Mr Sravan said in a statement released along with Kiran Kumar Gowd (national president, All India OBC Students Association), N. Shubhapradh Patel, D. Balraj Yadav,Gellu Srinivas Yadav and Ch. Rakesh Kumar.

Mr. Sravan demanded the Union Minister of Education to direct NALSAR to implement 27% OBC and 10% ST reservations this year itself, issue uniform national guidelines through the CLAT Consortium for all NLUs and also set up a Monitoring Committee to audit reservations every year.
