'In The Season We...': Arne Slot Dodges Mo Salah Questions Following Victory Over Inter

Liverpool coach Arne Slot responds to Mo Salah criticism after benching him vs Inter Milan, highlighting the team's away victory.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has said that in the ‘rich’ history of the club, there have been many evenings where the team has left out big-ticket players from the XI, adding that bagging a win over a strong side away from home should shift the credit to the ones he played, rather than the ones sitting out.

The game was overshadowed by Mo Salah’s explosive criticism of Slot, who had admitted on Monday that he had ‘no clue’ whether the former had already played his final match for Liverpool after leaving him out of the trip to Milan.

Salah ignited major turmoil at Liverpool, claiming he had been ‘thrown under the bus’ by the club and no longer had a relationship with Slot after being left on the bench for Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Leeds.

“In the rich history Liverpool have they have had many of these evenings. But in the season we are in, I think if you were having an away win in this stadium against such a strong team, then it should be about the ones that are here, they deserve all the credit," Slot said while speaking to the media after the 1-0 win over Inter Milan.

The coach conceded that Liverpool were fortunate to receive the match-winning penalty, but noted that Ibrahima Konate’s earlier strike was disallowed for handball, a decision he felt was incorrect.

“If that is a penalty, we could have had 10 this season, I think. That was a penalty that I don’t think in the Premier League would have been given. But again, I think the first goal was clearer than it was wrong that the penalty was given," Slot said.

Liverpool stand ninth in the league, 10 points adrift of leaders Arsenal and their team for the UCL clash with Inter was further depleted when it was confirmed that Salah wouldn’t travel with the side to Italy.
