Shubman Gill unlikely, selectors keen on status quo

There is a possibility that India's Test captain, Shubman Gill, will not be selected for the Asia Cup T20 squad.

Indian team management and selectors believe Gill does not currently fit into their T20 strategy. They prefer to stick with players they have supported since the 2024 T20 World Cup. The selectors plan to inform the Indian cricket board of this decision before the final squad of 15 is chosen on August 19.
