India and Australia are set to further strengthen their strategic partnership as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles co-chair the second India-Australia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in New Delhi on Sunday.

The high-level meeting is expected to review the progress made in bilateral defence ties and assess ongoing cooperation between the two countries across key sectors. Both sides will discuss measures to enhance military engagement, defence industry collaboration, maritime security and regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The dialogue will also provide an opportunity for the two ministers to explore new avenues of cooperation and identify areas where defence partnerships can be expanded. Discussions are likely to focus on strengthening interoperability between the armed forces, boosting joint exercises and advancing defence technology collaboration.

India and Australia have significantly deepened their strategic and defence relationship in recent years, driven by shared interests in maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. The upcoming dialogue is expected to build on that momentum and further consolidate defence cooperation between the two countries.
