PM Modi Japan Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India and Japan will continue to be a force for peace, progress and stability in Asia and the world. In an interview with the Japanese daily The Yomiuri Shimbun, he underlined stronger cooperation in defence, semiconductors, space and economic ties, alongside people-to-people linkages and support for the Global South.
“I am confident that my visit, though short, will be long in impact. India and Japan will continue to be a force for peace, progress and stability in Asia and the world,” PM Modi told The Yomiuri Shimbun.

The Prime Minister stated that India and Japan are not only close partners, but also ancient civilisations and major economies of the world.
“India and Japan are not just two close partners. We are ancient civilisations, vibrant democracies and leading economies. We share a common strategic outlook,” PM Modi told The Yomiuri Shimbun.
India-Japan Relations
Speaking on Indo-Japan relations, PM Modi told The Yomiuri Shimbun that ties between the two nations have reached new heights, with the 15th India-Japan annual summit reflecting their maturity and dynamism.
“Over the past decade, our ties have scaled new heights since they were elevated to Special Strategic and Global Partnership. The annual Summit itself is testament to the maturity and vibrancy of our ties.
During my meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba, I look forward to charting the next phase of our partnership. Our focus will be to strengthen security, enhance resilience, drive innovation and deliver prosperity for our peoples,” he said.

India-Japan Partnership Shaping Contours of 21st Century, says PM Modi
PM Modi further said that partnership between both the nations is unique. “The India-Japan partnership is unique. It spans millennia of cultural bonds, and is now shaping the contours of the 21st century. We are working together on new and emerging technologies, with semiconductor being one of them,” he told The Yomiuri Shimbun.
