Following days of heavy rain in North India, several regions across multiple States are still reeling from the damage caused by floods and landslips on Friday (September 5, 2025).

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, a total of 283 houses were damaged and 950 people evacuated following heavy rains, flash floods and landslides, officials said.

In the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, the security barriers safeguarding the Tibetan colony within the Municipal Council have sustained significant damage as a result of flooding from the Beas River. Local residents report that heavy rainfall triggered the floods, breaching the security wall and raising concerns about potential damage to the entire region.

    Himachal rain fury: Landslip in Kullu leaves 1 dead, 6 buried

    Two houses collapsed in a landslip in Kullu district on Thursday (September 4, 2025), leaving one dead and six buried under the rubble, officials said. 

    A total of 1,212 roads are closed in Himachal Pradesh, of which 289 were blocked in Mandi, 231 in Kullu, 211 in Shimla, 192 in Chamba district.
