In a landmark move for Indian sport, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and ACG Sports Pvt Ltd today unveiled the nation’s first-ever residential Basketball High Performance Centre (HPC) in Bengaluru –ushering in a new era for Indian basketball ahead of the India Basketball League (IBL) debut in 2026.

The unveiling marks the next chapter in a 15-year partnership focused on elite training, infrastructure, and athlete development — designed to transform basketball from a niche pursuit into a national movement.

India’s First Year-Round Basketball Powerhouse

Located at Lakshyan Academy, the IBL High Performance Centre is the first facility in India dedicated exclusively to elite basketball training. It features three FIBA-standard courts, a world-class gym, 25-metre swimming pool, and an integrated sports health and analytics department equipped for biomechanics, nutrition, physiotherapy, and mental conditioning.

A “phygital" model seamlessly blends physical training with cutting-edge technology. Smart courts and wearable devices feed AI-driven analytics, offering real-time performance tracking and tactical learning. Players can review gameplay, refine technique, and customise training programs alongside their coaches—all in one place.

Beyond the court, the HPC fosters a complete athlete experience with recording studios, content spaces, and social zones designed to nurture both sporting and cultural identity.

Building Great Players, Building a Great League

“The India Basketball League represents years of vision becoming reality," said Aadhav Arjuna, President, BFI. “This is about creating national heroes and building a basketball culture that resonates across India."

Karan Singh, Managing Director, ACG Sports, added: “To build a great league, you must first build great players. This High Performance Centre is a world-class foundation for the next generation of Indian talent."

The India Basketball League: India’s Pro Basketball Platform

Led by Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger, the IBL will be India’s first fully professional basketball ecosystem. Headed by Technical Director Martin Clarke, alongside renowned coaches Scott Flemming and Sarah Galler, the league combines international standards with Indian roots.

The journey begins with the IBL Invitational Combine, set for November 22–24, 2025 in Bengaluru—India’s first nationwide scouting platform to identify the country’s top basketball prospects.

“The IBL and the HPC are twin pillars of one vision—a world-class, sustainable basketball ecosystem rooted in Indian culture," said Loeliger. “We’re building foundations that will last generations."
