India urges Shanghai members to shun double standards, act against terror sponsors

In a strong and clear message at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting, India called on member states to hold the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of cross-border terrorism accountable, emphasising that terrorism in any form is a crime against humanity.

India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, expressed deep concern over the continued threat from United Nations-designated terrorist groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al Qaeda and its affiliates, as well as ISIS-linked outfits.

Referring to the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 Indian and Nepalese nationals were killed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of LeT, Doval said the attackers had segregated victims based on religion before carrying out the massacre.

In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and deter terrorists from conducting infiltration attempts. Doval stressed that India’s actions were “measured and non-escalatory” but necessary to protect its citizens.

Highlighting the importance of a unified and uncompromising approach to terrorism, Doval urged SCO countries to shun double standards and stand firm against all forms of terrorism.

Guided by the ancient Indian principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family — India reaffirmed its commitment to working together with SCO member states for peace, prosperity, and security in the region.
