Life could change drastically, if you learned Japanese. Yes, according to an Indian software engineer working in Japan life is better on the other side. A video of the techie has gone viral where he opened up about his job profile, work culture and salary in Japan.The man who identified himself as Sumit Chinchansure from Maharashtra shared that he works as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at a Japanese fintech company. In the video, he shared that he initially worked as a backend engineer before moving into DevOps and reliability engineering over the last five years.When advising how others could build the same life in Japan, he highlighted two vital factors: knowing Japanese and having prior experience.

“Learn Japanese, it will be very helpful to begin with,” he said, adding that people should have 3-4 years of prior experience in their home country before applying abroad.

How is Japanese work culture different from Indian?

The man also shared how different the Japanese work culture was from India. He shared that the first two companies he worked for in Japan were traditional firms where he was the sole foreign employee. “It was a bit strict, honestly. Strict from a timing perspective,” he said.

However, many companies have recently shifted to flex or free-style working models, making he environment more comfortable for the employees.While the entire video might catch your attention to know more about the working life in Japan, what really had the netizens in splits is the man's shocking salary. The techie shared that he earns "around 10 million Japanese yen" annually, which translates into roughly ₹59 lakh.
