India vs Japan Women’s Asia Cup Hockey 2025 Super 4s Live Score: With a place in the final at stake, the Indian women’s hockey team will look to bounce back from their defeat against China as they take on familiar foes Japan in a critical Super 4s fixture at the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou on Saturday. India are currently placed second in the Super 4s standing on three points, after starting the stage with an impressive 4-2 win against Korea, but then faced a setback against red-hot China, who won 4-2 on Thursday in the teams’second Super 4s clash. With that win, China assured themselves of a place in the final, leaving India, Korea and Japan fighting for the other slot on the final day of Super 4s action.

India vs Japan starts at 2.15 pm IST on Saturday and will be followed by Korea vs China at 4.30 pm. If India win, they will be through to the final to take on China. A draw could technically be enough as long as Korea don’t defeat China by a considerable margin. But if India lose against Japan, they will out of contention for the title clash and will have to play for 3rd/4th place on Sunday.

When Mumtaz Khan completed a flowing passing move, transitioning from offence to defence, receiving a pass at the edge of the circle and firing home a powerful tomahawk at goal that gave the Chinese goalkeeper little time to react, India managed to do what no other team had before this match. They breached the Chinese defence, scoring against the hosts for the first time in five matches. Arriving midway through the third quarter, the goal was just reward for India’s attacking endeavour.

But as a team harbouring ambitions of winning the Asia Cup, the Indian women’s hockey team did not quite lay down the marker, as they went down 1-4 in Hangzhou on Thursday. India now have to avoid defeat, at the very least, against Japan on Saturday or better yet, win outright, to earn a rematch against China on Sunday.
