Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for a six-day visit to France and Slovakia on Saturday, where he will review progress on bilateral relationships with the top leadership of both countries. PM Modi will also attend the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16 and 17.
This would be PM Modi’s seventh visit to France since 2014 after French President Emmanuel Macron visited India during the AI Impact Summit, where the two countries upgraded their ties to a Special Strategic Partnership. Modi will also become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Slovakia since its independence in 1993.
“When I meet President Macron in Nice, we will review the progress made since February, and chart the next steps in our cooperation. I look forward to our discussions on pressing global issues of mutual interest as well," he said in a statement ahead of his departure.
